Brydie

Brydie is a diminutive and Anglicized form of the Irish and Scottish Gaelic name Bríd, which itself is derived from the Old Irish name Brigid. Brigid means 'exalted one' or 'the high one' and is famously associated with the Celtic goddess Brigid, a deity of poetry, healing, and smithcraft. The name was later adopted by Saint Brigid of Kildare, one of Ireland's patron saints, which further cemented its popularity and spread throughout the Celtic world.

The Anglicized form 'Brydie' emerged as a more phonetic representation for English speakers, often used as a nickname or a standalone given name. While 'Bridget' is the most common Anglicization, 'Brydie' offers a softer, more modern feel while retaining the historical and cultural roots of the original name.
