Bajazit

Bajazit is a Turkish form of the Arabic name Bayezid, which itself is derived from 'Abu Yazid'. 'Abu' means 'father of' and 'Yazid' means 'he increases' or 'he adds'. The name gained prominence through its use by several Ottoman sultans, most notably Bayezid I (nicknamed 'Yıldırım' or 'The Thunderbolt') and Bayezid II.
