Aton

Aton, or Aten, is a significant name from ancient Egyptian religion. It refers to the disk of the sun and was initially an aspect of the sun god Ra. During the reign of Pharaoh Akhenaten (Amenhotep IV) in the 14th century BCE, Aton was elevated to the status of the sole god, becoming the focus of a monotheistic religion known as Atenism.
