Artemisz is the Hungarian form of the Greek name Artemis. Artemis is a name of uncertain etymology, though it is often associated with the Greek word 'artemes' (ἀρτεμής) meaning 'safe, sound, fresh'. Another proposed etymology links it to 'artamos' (ἄρταμος) meaning 'butcher', possibly referring to her role as a huntress. In Greek mythology, Artemis was the goddess of the hunt, wilderness, wild animals, the Moon, and chastity. She was the twin sister of Apollo.
