Anashuya

Anasuya (often transliterated as Anashuya) is a significant figure in ancient Hindu mythology, particularly in the Puranas and the epic Ramayana. She was the wife of the revered sage Atri, one of the ten mind-born sons of Brahma. Her name itself, 'Anasuya', is derived from Sanskrit where 'an' means 'without' and 'asuya' means 'envy' or 'jealousy', thus signifying a person free from envy and malice, embodying benevolence and purity.

Anasuya is celebrated for her unwavering devotion to her husband, her ascetic power (tapasya), and her profound chastity (pativrata dharma).
